Do I need a Namibian company to register as a foreign tour operator?

A foreign tour operator registers directly with the NTB as a declared foreign entity, this is not the same registration as a local lodge or guesthouse. If you also want a Namibian entity for banking or local contracting, we can quote that separately, but it is not a prerequisite for this NTB registration.

What does the N$26,600 actually cover?

It includes the statutory NTB application fee (N$10,000, GN 138/2004 Annexure 1), our professional fee for preparing and lodging your application, and follow-up until a decision is reached. It does not include the per-vehicle fees (N$500 per vehicle at application, N$100 per vehicle on registration) if you are also registering vehicles, or your required passenger/public liability insurance, minimum N$5 million and N$2.5 million respectively, which you arrange separately.

How long does NTB approval take?

The regulations do not prescribe a decision timeline, and the NTB is explicit that completing the form does not guarantee immediate approval. We submit a complete, correctly prepared application to avoid the single most common cause of delay: applications sent back for missing documents.

Can I register vehicles at the same time?

Yes. Vehicle discs are issued alongside your certificate once approved. Tell us how many vehicles you operate before we submit, since the per-vehicle statutory fee is additional to the N$26,600 base.

I already have vehicles insured overseas, does that count?

No. NTB requires Namibian-recognised passenger liability cover (minimum N$5 million) and/or public liability including professional indemnity (minimum N$2.5 million) as a condition of registration. We can point you to insurers who write this cover; arranging the policy itself is outside this package.
